Barbour is one of Britain’s most iconic heritage brands, established in South Shields in 1894. Known worldwide for their wax jackets, Barbour has long been associated with country living, outdoor pursuits and understated style. Today the brand enjoys a broad appeal, with customers ranging from farmers and explorers to actors, musicians and even members of the Royal Family. Their footwear collection carries forward the same values of durability, practicality and quiet sophistication.
The Carthy II shoe is a plain toe Derby lace up with four eyelets, crafted in premium dark brown waxy pull up leather that develops a rich patina over time. A distinctive olive green fabric heel panel and subtle side branding add authentic Barbour character. Inside, the shoe is lined in breathable green tartan fabric, a nod to the brand’s signature heritage check.
The shoe is completed with a robust dark brown commando-style rubber sole, offering grip and stability with a substantial 3cm heel. Combining classic Derby styling with rugged outdoor detailing, the Carthy II is equally at home in the countryside or paired with smart casual wear in town.

Comfortable straight out of the box...
I bought these Barbour Carthy shoes as a smart alternative to boots for weekends away and they’ve been excellent. The waxy leather looks better the more you wear them.
The commando sole grips really well in wet weather, so they’re practical as well as stylish. A great all-rounder for country walks, pub lunches and even casual days at the office.Posted on
