Boat shoes, as the name implies, were designed for sailors in the navy so that they could safely move about the deck without slipping. They were first manufactured in the 1930s, and fifty years later it was commonplace to see them around the town on dry land. This G.H Bass & Co boat shoe demi boot features the traditional non marking white coloured sole, which has a small heel, adding some sophistication to the overall design. It also features dark brown leather laces, supported by five plated eyelets on each side of the upper.
This boat shoe has been bench crafted using the finest materials and has a traditional unlined construction. The padded leather insole gives the boat shoe optimal comfort and ensures longevity and reliability. Unlike the most common boat shoe style, this one is what we call a ‘Demi boot’ because it sits slightly higher around the ankle. This provides extra support and adds an interesting shape to the overall presentation.
We recommend you wear this demi boot with a pair of cream or beige chinos, which, if you like, can be turned up slightly at the bottom to show off the style.
