The Chelsea boot has been a highly regarded boot design ever since its birth. The design is credited to J. Sparkes-Hall, who was a Victorian shoemaker who moved in royal circles. After the invention of vulcanised rubber, Sparkes-Hall used this material to create the Chelsea, with the rubber forming part of the famous side gussets that still appear on the classic boot today. Queen Victoria loved the design so much that she was often seen wearing a pair while carrying out her day to day duties.
This men's Chelsea is made from black suede leather, and has been hand crafted with care and attention in Italy. It is ankle length, and can be slipped on and off using the plain black pull tabs and adjustable side gusset design. This means no fiddly laces, buckles or zips. The plain, rounded toe and smooth strip of leather than extends from the toe to the top of the boot give a minimalist appearance, making it perfect for pairing with many diverse outfits.
