John White has been part of Northamptonshire's celebrated shoemaking tradition since 1919. Founder John White established the business after 23 years in the footwear trade, and by the Second World War one in every nine pairs supplied to British Forces carried his name. Today the collection continues to be designed in Northamptonshire, combining traditional proportions with footwear intended for the modern gentleman.
This premium Chelsea boot is a particularly refined interpretation of one of Britain's most enduring footwear designs. Smooth black polished leather, a rounded toe and clean lines give it an understated appearance, while twin elasticated side panels and a rear pull tab provide the effortless slip on convenience that has made Chelsea boots popular for generations.
The substantial studded rubber sole provides dependable grip and durability without sacrificing the smart profile of the boot. A full leather lining and cushioned memory foam footbed add comfort for longer periods of wear, making this a natural choice for men who want footwear that can move easily between the office, evenings out and the weekend.
The versatility of black Chelsea boots has also made them a favourite among some of Britain's best dressed actors. Cillian Murphy regularly wears sleek black leather Chelsea boots with tailoring, including a pair worn with his black suit at the Critics' Choice Awards and again at the BAFTAs, demonstrating how effectively this simple style complements formal clothing.
For work, pair them with navy or charcoal tailored trousers and a crisp shirt, or wear them beneath a suit as a contemporary alternative to conventional lace up shoes. At the weekend they work equally well with dark denim, a fine knit and wool coat. The polished black finish makes them particularly versatile for men who prefer to own fewer, carefully chosen pairs that can be worn across numerous occasions.

Smart and very comfortable
The black leather has a lovely polished finish and they look smart enough to wear with a suit but also work really well with jeans.
Very comfortable straight from the box and the rubber sole gives much better grip than my usual formal shoes.
Excellent quality and they feel built to last.Posted on
