John White has been part of Northamptonshire's celebrated shoemaking heritage since 1919. Founder John White had already spent more than two decades learning the trade before establishing the business, which grew to become one of Britain's important footwear manufacturers. During the Second World War, around one in nine pairs of shoes supplied to British Forces carried the John White name.
This premium chukka boot gives a traditional British design a particularly smart appearance. Smooth black polished leather creates a refined finish, while the rounded toe, clean three eyelet lacing and distinctive double stitching keep the design understated. It is an excellent choice for men who appreciate classic footwear but prefer the versatility of a boot.
A substantial studded rubber sole provides dependable grip and durability while retaining a smart profile. Inside, the full leather lining and cushioned memory foam footbed add comfort for longer periods of wear, making these particularly suitable for commuting, work and occasions where you may be on your feet throughout the day.
Chukka boots have become an enduring part of modern menswear, worn by everyone from businessmen to actors and style conscious professionals. Daniel Craig famously wore similar understated chukka boots during his years as James Bond, demonstrating how effectively this simple shape can work alongside both tailored and more relaxed clothing.
For work, combine them with navy or charcoal trousers, a crisp shirt and tailored jacket. They also look excellent with dark denim, a fine knit and wool coat at the weekend. The polished black leather makes this version especially versatile, bridging the gap between a conventional formal shoe and a more casual ankle boot.
